Angela was in line for tacos at lunch in medical school in Illinois when she first met Sammy. She noticed him, she said because he was very loud and his name on his name tag was very long: Salvatore Catarinicchia. They became fast friends. Over the next year they studied together and went to parties. A year later Sammy went to Italy to visit his family and when Angela picked him up from the airport he asked her to be his girlfriend. (There is something SO romanic about airports, huh?!)
Now for the engagement: They were vacationing in Vegas with all their medical school friends. They all had dinner at the Bellagio hotel and Sammy told her to wear the fanciest dress she brought. Angela explains, “After dinner, I had arranged a surprise cake for sammy because it was also his birthday in three days. The server brought it and then all of a sudden there is an official photographer. I thought that all Vegas restaurants just had photographers so I didn’t think much of it. The photographer then told me that the water fountain was going again soon and that sammy and I should take pictures by it. I was confused and told her, ‘why don’t you just take pictures of sammy and his cake?’ My friends just forced me to do it and so we were standing by the water fountain and Sammy started talking about how he has been talking to my parents and that he would really like for me to marry him!”
Way to go Sammy for keeping that all such a surprise! I’m so stoked for their wedding in Vail this summer! 🙂
